Volunteer Opportunities
A
current schedule of volunteer opportunities may be found in our online
list of opportunities or in the Three Rivers Park District volunteer
newsletter. This newsletter is published twice a year for spring/summer
and fall/winter seasons. The park patrol brochure is available each fall.
Contact the Volunteer Office at 763/559-6706 or volunteer@threeriversparkdistrict.org
to register as a volunteer or for more information.
Qualifications
Volunteer position qualifications range from no previous experience, only
a desire to support Three Rivers Park District mission, to specific skills
like bird or plant identification, intermediate ski ability, or sign language.
Unless stated otherwise, volunteers must be at least 16 years of age unless
volunteering as a team with an adult. Volunteers are selected based on
available positions, requirements of each position and successful completion
of training.
Training
Requirements
New volunteers must attend a Volunteer Orientation program. Additional training may be required for each volunteer
position. < Upcoming Volunteer Orientations
Commitment
Three Rivers Park District volunteers are asked to commit to 30 hours
a year. Some volunteer positions may request a greater commitment. A one
year or longer commitment is preferred for most positions.
Benefits
Three Rivers Park District volunteers have fun, meet new people, get outdoors
in some of the most beautiful parkland in the metro area, and enjoy the
challenge of learning new skills. Park District Volunteers earn benefits such as a Volunteer Fun Pass after 30 hours of service. The Volunteer Fun Pass offers free or discounted access to park facilities with user fees. Volunteers
receive additional benefits based on hours of service such as a volunteer
T-shirt and recognition pins. Recognition events and special training
opportunities also may be scheduled.
