Non-paved Hiking Trails
The trails listed below are designated for hiking only. Hiking is also permitted on horseback trails and mountain bike trails. Trails are closed during cross-country ski season unless otherwise marked.

Baker Park Reserve
- Timber Trail - 2.6 miles. Turf trail through hills, woodlots, marsh, and open fields. Access at Northern Division Office parking lot on County Road 24, just east of County Road 19.
Carver Park Reserve
- Nature Center Trails - 6.5 miles total. Six wood-chip, turf or crushed-rock trails. Access from Lowry Nature Center. Open for hiking year-round.
Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park
- Cottonwood Trail - 1.5 miles. Flat turf trail. Access from West Visitor Center parking lot.
- Wood Duck Trail - .8 mile. Wood-chip and turf trail through floodplain forest. Access from West Visitor Center parking lot.
Crow-Hassan Park Reserve
- Autumn Hiking Trail - 3.5 miles. Hilly turf trail through woodlots; views of prairie and Crow River.
Elm Creek Park Reserve
- Creek Trail - 2.1 miles.
- Monarch Trail - .75 mile. Wood-chip and turf trails through woodlots and open fields. Access from Eastman Nature Center. Open during fall hiking season. Closed during cross-country ski season.
- Eastman Nature Center Trails - 3.5 miles total. Four loop trails, turf or wood-chip surface. Access from Nature Center. Printed interpretive guide available. Open for hiking year-round.
Fish Lake Regional Park
- Glacial Ridge Trail - 1.1 miles. Turf trail through hilly, wooded area. (Part of trail is paved.) Access from north or south parking lot or from Drumlin Trail.
- Drumlin Trail - .7 mile. Turf trail goes around a marsh. Access from south parking lot or Glacial Ridge Trail.
French Regional Park
- Lakeview Trail - 1.4 miles. Turf trail overlooking Medicine Lake. Access near Visitor Center.
- Challenge Hill Trail - .3 mile. Turf trail, steep hill. Access from Lakeview Trail.
Skyline Trail - 1.3 miles. Turf trail, hilly terrain. Access from Lakeview Trail.
Hyland Lake Park Reserve
- Lake Trail - 2 miles. Wood-chip trail through woods and around Hyland Lake. Access from Visitor Center.
- Richardson Nature Center Trails - 2.8 miles. Wood-chip trails through oak woods, marshes, and prairie. Access from Nature Center. Open for hiking year-round.
Murphy-Hanrehan Park Reserve
- Wood Duck Trail - 2 miles. Very hilly turf trail through oak woods. Access at trailhead. No hiking on nearby mountain bike trail.
Lake Rebecca Park Reserve
- Deerwood Trail - 1.5 miles. Hilly turf trail through prairie, marsh, and upland woods. Self-guided nature trail; map available at rental building. Access from Hilltop picnic area parking lot.
- Refuge Trail - 2.4 miles. Trumpeter swans can be viewed at overlooks on trail. Access at rental/trailhead building.
