Cross-Country Skiing | Downhill Skiing, Snowboarding and Tubing
Three Rivers Park District is the Twin Cities' premier destination for
cross-country and downhill skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing. The Park District
has been a leader in implementing progressive features including ski-trail
lighting and snowmaking, and has earned a reputation for providing some
of the best groomed ski trails in the metro area.
Cross-Country Skiing
Three Rivers Park District offers more than 70 miles of cross-country
ski trails at seven locations. Trails are available for skiers of
all skill levels and are groomed for traditional stride and ski skating.
Lessons are available. Lighted trails are available Elm Creek and Hyland
Lake Park Reserves and Cleary Lake and French Regional Parks.

No Snow? No Problem!
A lighted 2.5K trail with snowmaking is available at Elm Creek Park Reserve in Maple Grove.
Hyland Ski & Snowboard Area in Bloomington opens the base of its ski hill for cross-country skiing from 7-10 a.m. Monday-Thursday and 7-9 a.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, weather permitting.
Cross-Country Ski Passes Required
The Park District requires skiers age 12 and older to have a Three Rivers
Park District Cross-Country Ski Pass. Parking
is free at all Park District cross-country skiing trailheads. More information
Downhill Skiing, Snowboarding and Tubing
Hyland Ski & Snowboard Area
Snowboarding and downhill skiing are a blast at Hyland Ski & Snowboard
Area (HSSA). Known for its spectacular snowmaking and grooming, HSSA has
something for everyone, from the "Training Zone" where skiers and snowboarders
practice the basics to the "French Cliff" where future Olympians train
on race courses and sail through the air from freestyle aerial jumps. HSSA
also features an amazing terrain park.

operated by the Minneapolis Ski Club. Ski jumping lessons are available.
Elm Creek Park Reserve Winter Recreation Area
Elm Creek Park Reserve's winter recreation area features a lighted tubing hill with lifts and snowmaking, a beginner-level downhill ski and snowboard hill, and nearly 18K of cross-country ski trails including 5.8K lighted trails and a 2.5K trail with snowmaking. Other features of the rec area include:
- large tubing area with lifts
- Alpine and nordic ski and snowboard rentals
- large lounge with foodservice
