Public Safety

Three Rivers Park District Public Safety is the law enforcement agency responsible for providing a safe environment for park guests and employees. In addition to the delivery of a variety of public safety services, members of the department protect the Park District's physical facilities and natural resources, are involved in public education regarding the use of the parks, and enforce applicable Three Rivers Park District ordinances and state statutes.
Public Safety Patch

All Park Police Officers are sworn, licensed peace officers.  Additionally, each officer is an emergency medical technician trained to respond to medical emergencies and accidents which may occur in or near park lands. Assistance is provided to officers by Park Service Officers (PSOs), uniformed, non-sworn officers who patrol the parks and serve as a resource to guests.

Public Safety officers are unique for the manner in which they perform patrol functions. In addition to four-wheel drive vehicles which enable officers to access most areas of the parks, the department also utilizes all terrain vehicles (ATVs), bicycles, snowmobiles and horses. All officers are trained to use these resources.

Mounted Patrol

Formed in 1980, Three Rivers Park District's Mounted Patrol is the oldest mounted law enforcement unit in Minnesota. Personnel from the unit have provided training to mounted units in Minneapolis, St. Paul and Duluth. Officers can trailer horses to a particular location and  then perform routine patrol duties which may include searches for  lost or missing persons and creating a visible presence at public  events. Other law enforcement agencies also regularly call upon the mounted patrol for assistance in a variety of situations.
