Gale Woods Farm sells a wide variety of products raised on its pastures and grown in its gardens.
From individual cuts and shares of beef, lamb, pork and chicken (sold frozen) to eggs, honey, pure maple syrup and fresh garden produce, visitors are able to enjoy a true farm-to-table experience.

You may purchase our farm products at our visitor center during the following hours: 9am – 5pm, Monday – Saturday; noon – 5 pm on Sunday. Please call ahead (763-694-2001) to check availability, as some of our products are only available seasonally. Download our 2009 Share information (PDF).

Unless noted, items below are available on a first-come, first-served basis, year-round as supplies last.

Eggs

Our hens lay a mix of brown, white and blue-green eggs. They are raised cage-free without hormones or antibiotics and are fed conventional grain and discard grain and grocery produce.

Due to the increased demand for Gale Woods eggs and our limited ability to meet this demand, we no longer offer Egg Shares.


Lamb

Our sheep are raised on pasture during the spring, summer, and fall months; they are fed conventional grain from other farms and hay raised organically here at Gale Woods.

Grass-fed Beef

Our beef cattle are 100% grass-fed and pasture-raised. In winter they are fed hay raised organically at Gale Woods. We raise Galloway Beef Cattle, a breed selected for their ability to thrive on pasture and for the superior taste of the meat. Chicken

Our chickens are raised on pasture in portable pens, We purchase chicks and raise them for 10-12 weeks. They roam during the day eating grass, bugs and worms and are penned at night for protection from predators. They are fed grain from local farms transitioning to organic (chemical-free, but uncertified) and receive no hormones or antibiotics.

Chickens are processed once a month from June-October and 1-2 chickens can be picked up each month until share is completed. Chickens are whole and frozen.

2009 Chicken Shares have sold out. Whole and frozen chickens ($2.25/lb) will be available for purchase at the visitor center on a first come first serve basis until supplies last. Please call for additional details and/or if you would like to have your name added to our 2010 Chicken contact list*.

Turkey

We raise two breeds of turkeys – bronze breasted and Eastern white. The baby poults arrive in June. After three weeks inside, they live on pasture until Thanksgiving. They are fed grain from farms transitioning to organic (chemical-free, but uncertified) and receive no hormones or antibiotics. Whole turkeys are picked up the week of Thanksgiving (fresh, not frozen).

Turkeys can be reserved with a $25.00 deposit starting October 1, 2009. Turkeys are sold on a first-come, first-served basis and are picked up in full upon payment. Please call 763/694-2001 to be placed on our contact list*.

Pork

Our pigs are raised on pasture from late spring through mid-fall. They receive some of their nutrition by grazing on cover crops planted in our gardens during non-vegetable production years. They are also fed conventional grain and discard garden and grocery produce.

Farm-Fresh Produce 

Produce is for sale in our visitor center summer through fall, depending on garden productivity. Call 763-694-2001 to check availability and selection.

The majority of our vegetables are sold through our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. Shareholders receive 6 – 20 pounds of vegetables, herbs and fruit each week from the farm gardens. The CSA program season is mid-June through early October (17 weeks).

Honey

Sorry, we are currently out of Gale Woods Honey. More will become available late summer 2009. In the meantime, we offer honey from a local producer and Gale Woods volunteer.

Warm your heart
Gale Woods Yarn
Knitters may choose from skeins of yarn in heathers, tweeds and solids. These soft, durable yarns will produce attractive wool crafts with a unique connection to the farm. Our yarn is suitable for sweaters, hats, mittens and blankets. Each skein weighs 4 oz. and is 210 yards. Available at the Visitor Center.
