Silverwood Park
Construction has began at Silverwood Park in St. Anthony. Highlights of the park will include a new visitor center to serve as a focal point and central hub for the park. In addition to the Visitor Center, development will include a multi-use performance area that blends into the landscape. Various paved and non-paved trails will flow through the mature white oak woods, aspen stands, wildflower glades, designed gardens, and over a new bridge to Silver Lake's largest island.
The park is officially closed to the public as construction will impact the majority of the park area including roads and parking areas. Three Rivers Park District anticipates the initial phase to be completed in 2009.

REGIONAL TRAILS
Dakota Rail Regional Trail
The Dakota Rail Regional Trail is a 13.5-mile regional multi-use trail that will extend from the city of Wayzata to the city of St. Bonifacius following the old railroad line. The public's patience is appreciated during construction of the Dakota Rail Regional Trail. As the project nears completion we ask your assistance with the following:
- Portions of the trail are closed until it is fully completed in June 2009.
- Please honor barricades where the trail is fully closed due to construction equipment and other hazards.
- Motorized vehicles and horses are prohibited by ordinance; users may be subject to citation.
Hennepin County Regional Railroad Authority (HCRRA) Detour
This is the detour route for the Shady Oak Road (CSAH 61) project in Hopkins. The project will probably continue through most of 2009. The trail will always be open weekends (4:30pm on Friday thru 7:00am on Monday) and Holidays. A temporary underpass on the Minnesota Riverbluffs RT (Hopkins to Chaska) at Shady Oak Road, will allow the trail to be open on weekdays except when certain work (bridge demolition, beam placement, pile driving etc.) occurs. Under those conditions, the trail will be blocked off and the signed detour will be implemented.

Lake Independence Regional Trail
Trail construction for the Lake Independence Regional Trail is underway. The trail segment between the maintenance driveway and Maple Street is open; however, a few construction items remain. Regional trail users are advised to use extreme caution, obey all trail signage, and expect delays and temporary trail closure while construction is finalized. The regional trail segment from Maple Street north to Trunk Highway 55 is under construction and closed to the public. This segment is not anticipated to reopen until 2010.
The horse and hiking trail along CSAH 19 will be closed during the duration of the project to allow for construction activities including turf reestablishment associated with the regional trail construction.
This is part of a multi-phase project and partnership with Hennepin County. When complete, the Lake Independence Regional Trail will connect Crow-Hassan Park Reserve, Baker Park Reserve, and the Luce Line State Trail. The 10’-wide paved regional trail will support walking, jogging, hiking, dog-walking, inline skating and bicycling. The turf horse and hiking trail will reopen once construction is complete.

Luce Line Regional Trail - Golden Valley
An extension of the Luce Line Regional trail in Golden Valley between TH 169 and Douglas Drive is completed and open for use. Construction of the remaining section from Douglas Drive to Theodore Wirth Park is expected to be completed in 2009. More information.
Medicine Lake Regional Trail
Three Rivers Park District is preparing plans for constructing one of the remaining trail segments of the Medicine Lake Regional Trail, which connects Elm Creek Park Reserve in Maple Grove with French Regional Park and the Luce Line State Trail in Plymouth. This portion of the trail will run from County Road 10 to County Road 47.
Three Rivers will also be developing the final segment of the Medicine Lake Regional Trail between Fish Lake Regional Park and Elm Creek Park Reserve. This segment is between Upland and Ranchview Lanes North and from 95th Avenue North to Maple Grove Parkway.

Minnesota River Bluffs LRT Regional Trail
Hennepin County is working on Shady Oak Road, and a new bridge over the regional trail is being built. The project includes a temporary underpass for the trail, so the trail will be open much of the time. However, the underpass will be closed when certain hazardous work is being done (such as demolition, pile driving, etc.). A detour will be necessary some of the time, and the route will be marked. The project is expected to be completed in 2009.
Nine Mile Creek Regional Trail
Nine Mile Creek Regional Trail will travel through Hopkins, Edina and Richfield. As proposed, the regional trail will connect to the popular Minnesota River Bluffs LRT Regional Trail in Hopkins to the Minneapolis Grand Rounds trail network in Minneapolis and the Minnesota River Valley in Bloomington. More information.
Shingle Creek Regional Trail
A section of the Shingle Creek Regional Trail will be repaired starting Oct. 1. The work will occur on the part of the trail between Brookdale Drive and Brookdale Park, and trail users will be able to bypass the construction by using the sidewalk on the west side of Xerxes Ave. Signs will be in place.
