Cleary Lake Regional Park
 

The 1,045-acre Cleary Lake Regional Park is one of the most popular year-round recreation spots in the southern metro area. A visitor center/clubhouse offers concessions, room rentals and recreation rental equipment. Golfers enjoy the challenge of a par-3, 9-hole golf course and driving range. Water sports include swimming, boating and fishing, and winter activities include cross-country skiing on groomed trails.

Facilities and Amenities

Visitor Center - A year-round recreation facility provides concessions, public restrooms, a lounge area, meeting room and exhibits. In the summer, the visitor center serves as a clubhouse for the executive par-3 golf course and driving range. In the winter, the building serves as the trailhead for cross-country ski trails. Reserve a site.

Public and group picnic area - An area of approximately 8 acres on the southeast shore of Cleary Lake serves both picnickers and swimmers. The area features a reservation picnic pavilion, two sheltered reservation picnic sites and non-reservation picnic sites. There is a restroom/changing facility located there, which services the swimming beach as well. Reserve a site.

Group campsites - There are five group campsites in Cleary Lake Park. Each site is three to five acres in size, and one has a shelter. They range in capacity from 25 to 80 persons. The Island site is accessible only by boat. Campers must carry in their own water and carry out their trash. Reserve a site.

Hike-in campsites - The Red Pine Hike-In Camping Area features five individual hike-in campsites. Reserve a site.

Par-3, 9-hole golf course - Located directly east of the clubhouse. Rental equipment and concessions are available.

Swimming beach - There is a 125-foot unguarded beach on Cleary Lake. It is open between Memorial Day Weekend and Labor Day.

Boat launch (no gas motors) - located on the south end of Cleary Lake.

Fishing pier - An accessible fishing pier is located on Cleary Lake. Anglers age 16 and older must have a valid Minnesota fishing license.

Paved bike/hike trail (3.5 miles) - This 10-foot wide trail has grass shoulders, and loops around Cleary Lake. It is fairly flat with just one gradual hill. There are three rest stops and one water pump stop. The trail has connections leading to both the east and west for access from outside the park.

Hiking turf trail (2.4 miles) - A 1.3 mile wood-chipped trail starts out from the Visitor Center.

Hiking/Dog trail (1.1 miles) - This turf trail runs along the park's northern border. Dog-walkers are required to keep their dogs on leashes no longer than 6 feet and must clean up after the pets. Dogs must not be allowed to interfere with other trail users. Violators will be fined.

Dog Off-leash Area- This 28 acre dog off-leash area provides opportunities for dog-owners to exercise their dogs. The area is fenced and has a wetland pond. An annual or daily pass is required. Daily permits are available at the park, or you may purchase an annual permit.

Creative play area - This small play area is located near the picnic pavilion and concession stand, and features a variety of slides, tunnels, nets and other climbing components.

Boat and bike rental - These seasonal amenities are available near the visitor center. Boat rentals include paddle boats and canoes. A valid photo I.D. is required.

Cross-country ski trails (16.5K, 10.3 mi) - These 10-foot wide groomed trails include 4.6K of lighted trails and a one-mile loop exercise course that starts across from the visitor center. Trails wind through gently rolling hills and a hardwood forest, providing enjoyment for skiers of all abilities. Ski rental is available with a valid photo I.D. A Three Rivers Park District Cross-Country Ski Pass is required for skiers ages 12 and older. Daily passes are available at the park; season passes are available online or at the park. Snowmobile trail (1 mile, no trailer parking) - This 10-foot wide trail across the northern edge of the park provides a connecting link for a county-wide snowmobile trail system.
