Wildlife Management

Wildlife collageMission
The goal of Three Rivers Park District Wildlife Management is to establish and maintain habitats that are attractive to a wide variety of native wildlife species, to monitor wildlife populations to assess their status, to maintain them in balance with available habitat and social carrying capacities where necessary, and to restore native wildlife species, where appropriate.

Habitat Management Activities

Animals need a place to live. Creating and maintaining habitat is essential for maintaining viable populations of wildlife. Some of Three Rivers Park District's habitat management and restoration activities are described here.

Wildlife Management Activities

Three Rivers Park District wildlife management activities fall into four general categories: reintroductions, management of species of special concern, control of populations that exceed either the social or biological carrying capacity of the parks, and general monitoring of other species. Examples of each activity appear here.
